I have an immense respect for the artists that have paved the way for the ones like me who follow….artists like charlie lucas, lonnie holley, and michael wimmer. they are the greats, who create objects of beauty from the heart…to me it is a God-given gift to have both the desire and ability to be expressive.

What i do is not abstract, not naive, and not contemporary. i am a collector of things trashed, and i enjoy the process of making something powerful and new from the discarded. the truth is, there’s nothing special about welding metal to metal or nailing tin to barn wood, but i enjoy my reaction to the images i produce. what i like best about what i do is being able to envision an image and then create it…and i am happiest when what i’ve made is the same as what i saw in my mind.

I believe that the purpose of art is to generate a feeling; my own response is always exciting because the ideas behind the images are an expression of my feelings and beliefs, and the pieces themselves are a tangible reflection of these ideas.
